By default, category descriptions help entrants choose the correct category but do not appear in judging views. If required, you can display category descriptions to judges by adding them as content fields and making them visible in judging.
Create category descriptions
In the Manage workspace, go to Entries
Click Edit form
Hover within the 'Start here' tab under the category drop-down
Select the + icon
Set Field type to Content
Add the category description in the Label field
Under 'Field access', deselect Read to hide the description from entrants
Select Field applies to some categories
Choose the relevant categories
Click Save
Repeat for each category that needs a description.
Add descriptions to the judging view
In the Manage workspace, go to Judging > Settings > Score sets
Select your score set
Open the 'Display' tab
Under 'Field visibility', select the visible checkbox for the description field
Click Save
Good to know
Entrants will not see the descriptions if Read access is disabled.
Field visibility for judging is controlled per score set.
This approach avoids duplicating information elsewhere.
