Data storage

What exactly is meant by 'data'?

The data referred to is all of your user data, their entries, judging data, and so on. These are all stored in highly secure and encrypted databases.

Where is my data stored?

Your data will be stored in one of five locations:

  • Australia
  • Canada
  • Europe
  • Hong Kong
  • United States

The choice of data location is made when a new account is first created on Award Force. Once the location is set, it cannot be changed.

Is Award Force GDPR and CCPA compliant?

Award Force is packed full of features to meet the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Californian Consumer Protection Act (CCPA), the highest international standards set in compliance.

Some examples:

  • Consent options during registration
  • Set user notification preferences
  • Additional levels of security can be applied at field level
  • Download user data for information requests
  • Permanent deletion of users on request

Where should I store my data?

We cannot offer legal advice regarding the choice of data storage location, so we strongly recommend you discuss the matter with your legal and/or IT teams before indicating your choice. Every organisation has different compliance guidelines, and you must confirm to which guidelines your organisation should comply. All organisations in Europe must be GDPR compliant, but there is no one rule for non-EU businesses.

If your organisation is based outside the European Union (EU) but you have users from the EU registering and participating in your program, you might consider storing your data in the EU to be compliant.

How do you secure my data?

We manage our own server instances on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure.

AWS data centre and network architecture are built to comply with stringent global standards and meet the requirements of the most security-sensitive organisations. More information on AWS compliance programs is available at https://aws.amazon.com/compliance/programs
