You can use Google Analytics to track and report on traffic to your program hosted in Award Force. This allows you to understand how users are finding and interacting with your program beyond the data available inside Award Force.
To get started, you’ll first need to create a Google Analytics 4 (GA4) property in your Google Analytics account and obtain a tracking ID. If you don’t already have a Google Analytics account, follow the instructions on the official Google Analytics Help site to set one up.
What can I track with Google Analytics?
In addition to the reporting available in Award Force, Google Analytics can provide insights such as:
- Volume of visits and page views
- Average session duration and time spent per user
- Geographic data (e.g. country of visit)
- Technology data (browser type, device, desktop vs mobile)
- Traffic trends over time
- Real-time visitor activity
Add your Google Analytics tracking ID
Once you have your GA4 tracking ID, follow these steps to connect it to your program.
- In the Manage workspace, go to Settings > General > Account
- Locate the Google Analytics tracking ID field
- Paste your GA4 tracking ID (this typically starts with G-)
- Click Save
Your program traffic will now begin reporting to your Google Analytics account.
Good to know
- Award Force supports Google Analytics 4 (GA4) only; Universal Analytics is no longer supported by Google.
- Data will only begin tracking after a valid tracking ID is added—historical traffic cannot be backfilled.
- Google Analytics reports on program-level web traffic, not individual user actions such as entry edits or judging decisions.
- For questions about data interpretation or compliance, consult your analytics or legal team before relying on reports.
