Panels: who will appear in the 'Who' drop-down

Creating a panel is a key step in judging configuration.

When selecting who will judge on a panel in the ‘Who’ section, you have two options:

  • Any users with a role
  • Existing judges

Any users with a role

This option is selected by default.

When chosen, a list of all roles in your account is displayed. Anyone assigned to the selected role(s) will be included on the panel. If a selected role does not already have judging permissions, those permissions will be automatically applied for the purposes of that panel.

This option is ideal when you want all users with a particular role—such as judge or voter—to participate.

Existing judges

Selecting Existing judges allows you to:

  • Search for users by name
  • Use Advanced search to filter by role

Only users with a role that has Scores (own) permission set to Allow will appear in the list.

By default, the judge and program manager roles already include this permission.

If you have created custom roles or modified permissions, ensure that the Scores (own) setting is enabled for any users who need to appear in the panel selection list.

Good to know

  • Custom user roles are available on the Pro plan and above.
  • Changing role permissions may impact other functionality—review settings carefully before adjusting. For more on permissions, see the Ultimate guide to user roles.
  • If a role without judging permissions is selected under Any users with a role, the required permissions will be automatically applied for that panel. For full panel setup instructions, see the Create a judging panel guide.
