How do I test my judging set-up?

Once judging has been configured, you can preview it before opening access to judges. This helps confirm assignments, visibility, and workflows are correct.

Using the Judging fast start

When configuring judging with Judging fast start select Add myself to the panel. This automatically assigns you to the panel for previewing.

Using panels

If you configured judging manually using panels, follow these steps:

  1. Ensure you have the judge role (see: Ultimate guide to user roles)
  2. Add yourself to the relevant judging panel
  3. Open the Judge workspace
  4. Select Preview judging
  5. Choose the judging round
  6. Click Save
  7. Select Start on the score set to view assignments

If a judge confidentiality agreement is configured for the score set, you must accept it before viewing entries.

Best practice for testing

Test judging using test entries only. Avoid testing on real entries submitted by users to prevent stray scores.

Stray scores:

  • Do not affect judging results
  • Cannot be removed
  • Remain visible in assignments

Remove yourself after testing

To remove yourself and stop seeing judging views:

  1. Open the Manage workspace and go to Judging > Settings > Panels
  2. Open each panel used for testing
  3. Remove yourself from the 'Who' section
  4. Click Save
