Renaming the 'Entry name' field

The entry name field is a system requirement and must be completed when creating an entry. However, you can rename this field to better reflect your program’s terminology.

For example, you may prefer to label it:

  • Application name
  • Submission name
  • Nominee’s name

There are two ways to rename the 'Entry name' system field label: interface text override and category advanced settings.

Option 1: interface text override

This option updates the entry name label globally. The new label will apply to the entry form regardless of which category an entrant selects.

To rename the field using an interface text override:

  1. In the Manage workspace, go to Settings > Content > Interface text
  2. Search for "Entry name"
  3. Enter your preferred label in the text field
  4. Click Save

Option 2: advanced category settings

This option allows you to rename the entry name field for a specific category only. Each category can have a different label if required. If a category does not have a custom label set, it will default to entry name or to the interface text override if one has been applied.

To rename the field for a single category:

  1. In the Manage workspace, go to Entries
  2. Click Edit form
  3. Select the category from the category drop-down
  4. Click the settings icon next to the category name
  5. In the 'Advanced' section, enter your preferred label in the Entry name label field
  6. Click Save

Good to know

  • Interface text overrides apply to all categories. To learn more, see Interface text changes.
  • Category-specific labels take precedence over interface text overrides.
  • You can add generic help text for the entry name field via interface text using Entry name field help text
  • Help text added via interface text is not category-specific and should be suitable for all categories.
