Utilising auto-score fields

When configuring entry fields in your program's form, you may have noticed a small toggle labeled Auto-score. Once enabled, this feature allow you set a predefined "score" based on your entrants' input. This feature can be used independently or in conjunction with the eligibility tab; see: Configure an eligibility screener

Note: auto-scoring fields used up to and including the eligibility tab will be used to calculate the eligibility of an entry.

Tip: auto-score can be enabled at any time, including after entries have closed.
Important: auto-score does not impact your program's judging configuration, but can be made visible in the Manage workspace via Judging > Leaderboard by clicking the cog icon and selecting Auto-score.

Tip: you can see the scores associated with each of your entrants' auto-score fields via the manager's view of an entry by navigating to the Manage workspace under Entries, clicking on an entry's name or ID number, and then opening the 'Judge' tab.

Example

Judge-free evaluation

For some programs, judges may not be necessary to evaluate submissions. As an example, your program could award any participants that qualify, whether that be in a "Winners" gallery, a certificate, or some other means. Whatever your situation may be, the process to configure this is straightforward.

  1. Set up your entry form as normal, adding auto-score fields as needed
  2. Open your entry round and allow entrants to submit their entries
  3. When entries have started to be submitted, go to Entries > Manage entries
  4. Click Advanced in the search bar
  5. Set the Status filter to Submitted
  6. Search
  7. If you haven't already made the 'Auto-score' column visible, click the cog icon, select the Auto-score checkbox, and Save

Note: depending on the number of columns selected and the size of your browser window, some columns may be hidden behind the + button.

  8. Click the Auto-score column heading to sort by lowest to highest score or vice versa
  9. Select the checkboxes next to the highest scoring entries; i.e. those who have selected the "correct" responses to your series of auto-score fields
  10. Open the Action drop-down
  11. Click Tag
  12. Key in your desired tag or create a new one
  13. Tag

Once tagged, you can choose to move these entries into a gallery, add badges, give certificates, and more! Additionally, you can use the advanced search to filter by this tag in the future to isolate just those submissions.
