We strip the filename when the file is stored initially to avoid problematic characters causing issues across file systems.
Attachment files are renamed 'file' by design but you will only receive the renamed versions when downloading an individual file.
To receive the files with the full filenames, please use the bulk download feature instead. We can include the full file names for bulk downloads because in the process of creating the zip file, there is an opportunity to restore the original name. Bulk download is also available for judges.
Note, however, that if the 'anonymize attachments' feature is checked, then the file version with the generic file name will be delivered. The anonymize feature is found on the Display tab of score sets, under the Attachments section ('Anonymize attachment download').
