Why are all attachments renamed "File"?

To avoid problematic characters causing issues, the Award Force platform strips the file name from the file when it is initially stored. Attachment files are renamed "file" by design but you will only receive the renamed versions when downloading an individual file.

To receive the files with the full filenames, please use the bulk-download feature instead. We can include the full file names for bulk downloads because in the process of creating the zip file, there is an opportunity to restore the original name. Bulk-download is also available for judges.

Note, however, that if the 'anonymise attachments' feature is checked, then the file version with the generic file name will be delivered. The anonymise feature is found on the 'Display' tab of score sets, under the 'Attachments' section (Anonymise attachment download).
