What are tags?
Tags in Award Force act as internal labels you can apply to entries to help manage and organise your program. They are especially useful for multi-stage programs—for example qualifying, shortlisting, finalist selection, and winner selection.
Tags can also streamline judging panel configuration by helping you control which entries appear to which judges.
Tag an entry
Individually
- In the Manage workspace, go to Entries or Judging > Leaderboard
- Click an entry name
- Under 'Entry tags', type your tag into the field
- Select a previously used tag or press Return/Enter to create a new one
In bulk
- In the Manage workspace, go to Entries or Judging > Leaderboard
- Select the checkbox next to each entry
- Open the Action drop-down and choose Tag
- Type your tag, select an existing one, or create a new one
- Click Tag to apply it to all selected entries
Tagging in the judging view
Program managers assigned to judging can add tags directly from the bottom of an entry while reviewing. With the Tags Create and View permissions, other roles can also create and apply tags. Learn more about permissions in our Ultimate guide to user roles.
Remove a tag
From an individual entry
- In the Manage workspace, go to Entries
- Click the entry name
- Click the X next to the tag you want to remove
From all entries
- In the Manage workspace, go to Settings > General > Tags
- Select the checkbox next to the tag
- Click Delete
Deleting a tag removes it permanently and cannot be undone.
Using tags in panels
When creating a judging panel, Award Force displays all available tags. Select one or more tags to restrict the panel to entries that have the selected tags applied.

Good to know
- Tags are not visible to entrants or judges as they may contain sensitive information.
- If you want judges to see tags, see: How can I allow judges to see tags?
- Tags work well with multi-stage judging and automated tagging.
